Does my horse need horse boots?

The legs of a horse are one of the most important body parts, but also one of the most fragile. It is therefore important to protect them properly against injuries. Qualitative leg protection significantly reduces the risk of injuries.

But which boots do you need for your horse? In this blogpost we’ll give you an overview of the different kinds of leg protection so you can make the best decision for your horse.

Why should a horse wear horse boots?

We have different kinds of front boots and hind boots in our range. Besides our classic front boots, we have developed a new ecological technology that takes our front boots to the next level. The Bamboo Shield boots have a reinforced bamboo shield at the level of the tendon. This protects your horse better than any other boot on the market today.

We have created our own in-house testing machine which creates a force of 80N falling down on a horizontal horse leg with a razor-sharp axe. Want to see the result? Scroll down to watch the video.

Like our bandages, our boots also have a fashionable factor in addition to the functional aspect. Our new Bamboo Shield Boots in Velvet prove this point. These boots embody the perfect balance of strength, durability, and remarkably lighter weight, providing horses with unmatched comfort and superior performance. All while being really pretty as well.

What are horse bandages for?

Bandages have two main purposes. They can be used while training or in the stables/during transport. When used while training, bandages protect the tendons and ligaments. The bandages used while riding your horse, are often fleece bandages.

In the stables or during transport, it is easiest to use repellent bandages to avoid shavings getting stuck to them. In these situations, bandages help the blood flow and avoid fluid from building up in the legs.

Besides the functional aspect of bandages, they are also fashionable. Bandages often come with a matching saddle pad and fly veil to have a complete look.

Eventing boots

Our eventing boots are ideal for taking on any cross-country course. These boots consist of five layers that ensure your horse is optimally protected. The first layer consists of a knitted lining that feels airy and soft so that abrasions are avoided. It also creates an anti-slip effect that keeps the leg boot perfectly in place.

The second layer consist of EVA foam. This material is perfectly shock-absorbent and lightweight. The third layer is a 2mm TPU hard shell that absorbs the hardest shocks. The outer layer consists of perforated artificial leather. The many ventilation holes prevent the legs from overheating.

When should a horse wear overreach boots?

Overreach boots can be used for several purposes. Some horses have a wide stride that puts them at risk of kicking their front hooves or maybe even kick off their irons. During jumping, these boots can be used to protect the hoof and hoof ball. Overreach boots are suitable for every discipline.

What do brushing boots do for horses?

Brushing boots make the perfect all round leg protection. They can be used while training or when your horse is in the pasture. In the field, brushing boots are ideal to prevent minor leg injuries.
