Which rug is suitable for my horse?
This rug is primarily suitable for brisk summer nights and the warmer autumn days. Thanks to a thin stable rug, your horse doesn’t have to be cold in the stable in the spring and autumn. It’s better to choose a thick stable rug in the cold winter months.
A thin stable sheet is used a temperature between 10°C and 15°C. This is usually a stable rug of 0 g or a stable rug of 100 g. Keep an eye on the temperature, but also look after your horse. Is your horse still cold under the rug or is it sweating? A rug that is too warm is certainly not good. A horse must always be able to release their body heat. If your horse sweats under a rug that’s too thick, then a thin one is a great alternative.
Which stable rug should I use for my horse at which temperature?
First and foremost, it is important to consider one key point. Every horse is different. If you have two horses, it may be that one wears a 200 g rug and is a bit too warm, while the other needs a 400 g rug. It all depends on their age, weight, and breed.
Choose a stable blanket based on the outdoor temperature. Use a thin stable blanket primarily on cold summer nights and during the early autumn. If the temperature dips below freezing at night, we recommend a stable rug of at least 300 g. At a temperature between 0°C and 10°C, a 200 g stable rug is perfect in most cases.

Which stable rug should I use for my clipped horse?
The principle is simple: if your horse is cold, put a blanket on it. If your horse has a nice thick coat, it probably doesn’t even need a rug on warmer winter days. A clipped horse has lost the natural mechanism to keep themselves warm, so it could use an extra layer of warmth. At a temperature between 5°C and 15°C, use a 0 to 100 g stable rug. At a temperature below freezing, it is best to use a horse rug between 300 and 500 g.
How do you measure a rug for your horse?
A well-fitting rug is essential. It is best to measure your horse or pony to find out which rug size they need. To measure, take a measuring tape and start in the middle of the chest/breastbone and then measure a straight line to the back of the horse. Stop measuring when you get to the rump.
Then use the number of centimetres to check our size guide for which rug size your horse needs. You will find our size guide on every product page.
A rug that is too small or too big will hinder your horse. A rug that is too small will inhibit your horse’s movements and chafe. But a rug that is too big can move over the body so there are often friction spots created on the horse’s shoulders.
