The story of Taizo Sugitani
Seven Olympics. One Philosophy. Forever.
For over two decades, Taizo Sugitani has been a cornerstone of Japanese show jumping. With seven consecutive Olympic Games under his belt - from Atlanta '96 to Paris '24 - he’s not only made history, but defined it. His career is built on resilience, excellence and respect for the sport, values that align deeply with Kentucky’s DNA.
How it all started
What sets Taizo apart goes beyond medals - it’s his humility, discipline, and quiet dedication to the next generation.
His connection to Kentucky began through Claudia Weber, our Product Developer, who groomed for him between 2014 and 2016. Built on trust and intuition, their bond has since evolved into lasting friendship.
Today, Taizo and his family are part of the Kentucky story - united by shared values and a vision for the future of the sport.
Claudi could see what the horses needed before I even said a word. That kind of trust never left.” - Taizo Sugitani
