Lara de Liedekerke-Meier
Lara de Liedekerke-Meier is a Belgian eventing rider who has taken her sport to a level no Belgian before her had reached. Born into a family with a deep-rooted passion for horses, she grew up surrounded by breeding and horsemanship — a foundation that would shape her entire career.
Lara represented Belgium at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, competing in both team and individual eventing. But it was in the summer of 2024 that she wrote her name into the history books: with her homebred mare Hooney d'Arville, she became the first Belgian rider ever to win a CCI5*, taking the title at the legendary Longines Luhmühlen Horse Trials in Germany.
The following season, she went even further. In 2025, Lara surpassed the global record for international wins in a single season — a benchmark that had stood since 2019 — and became the first Belgian rider to win the CCIO4*-NC-S at Boekelo. A large part of her success is built on horses bred by her own family, a rare and remarkable achievement in a sport where produced partnerships are everything.
