What is a turnout rug?

Turnout rugs are used to keep your horse warm and dry by protecting him from the rain, cold and wind. What’s the difference between turnout and stable rugs? Turnout rugs are waterproof and made from a rougher material on the outside to withstand harsher weather elements. Stable rugs are designed to be used indoors only.

How important is a turnout blanket?

Turnout blankets come in handy for prolonged periods of rain or extreme wind during wintertime, especially true for horses that spend a lot of time outdoors in winter. As every horse is different, we offer a lot of different blankets with different fillings.

After training, it’s best to use a fleece rug to let your horse cool down before putting a turnout rug on. If you put a turnout rug on a sweaty horse, the rug won’t be able to cope with the moisture and hold it close to the horse’s body. This will cause the horse to get ill.
