A correctly fitted curb chain is essential when riding with a Pelham bit. When the lower rein is engaged, the curb chain helps distribute the leverage of the bit evenly between your horse’s mouth, chin groove and poll. This allows your horse to feel your aids clearly and consistently, supporting precise communication throughout every ride.

Tip: Adjust the curb chain so that it only comes into action when the bit shanks form an angle of approximately 45°. Before fastening it, twist the chain so that the links lie flat against the horse’s chin groove.
